(Tifton, GA) Record Crowd at Annual Corn Shortcourse Held in Tifton

Chairman Danny Willingham gave a report on Commission activities to a record crowd in Tifton at the UGA Annual Corn Shortcourse. Approximately 160 corn growers and agribusiness/industry personnel were on hand to hear research reports, market outlooks, educational seminars and industry updates. According to the majority of attendees though, the highlight was the grower panel discussion on producing 300 bushel per acre corn.

Attendees watched as Mr. Randy Dowdy, Dixie, GA was awarded the State High Yield Irrigated Corn Production award for his entry of 364 Bu/Ac . This entry was also recognized nationally by the National Corn Growers Association as Mr. Dowdy’s entry was the second highest yield in the country. Top honors went to Mr. David Hula for his 429 bu/ac production in Virginia. Mr. David Stafford, Crandall, Ga received top honors in the Non-irrigated category in Georgia High Yield program for his first place entry of 290 bu/ac.
